The public elementary, middle, and high schools serving Serrano consistently place within
the top 10 percent of all California schools. In addition, the schools are within walking distance from each other.
High School
Oak Ridge High School (grades 9-12) is one of seven high schools in the El Dorado Union High School District, adjacent to the Serrano community on Silva Valley Road and Harvard Way. Oak Ridge High School is recognized for its excellent academic and sports programs. Oak Ridge’s mission is to educate students with a rigorous, relevant curriculum while helping them to become responsible citizens. The entire staff is committed to providing outstanding curricular and co-curricular programs to engage and challenge students.
In preparation for college entrance exams, Oak Ridge offers college preparatory English and math classes and advanced placement (A.P.) classes. The school also has career-vocational education and Regional Occupation Program (ROP) courses for juniors and seniors. Oak Ridge operates on a traditional school-year schedule and is consistantly scoring in the top 10% of high schools in California. Oak Ridge recieved the top Academic Performance Index (API) score -
earning a 10 out of 10.
Oak Ridge’s athletic programs are equally as successful as its academic programs. Oak Ridge is famous for its gifted athletes and their commendable accomplishments in all sports.
The Oak Ridge Trojan Varsity Basketball Team were the Division 2 State Champions for the 2005 basketball season.
The school was home to many talented athletes like: Feross Aboukhadijeh, Ryan Anderson, Alex Kosinski, and Scott Crawford, among others.
Middle School
Rolling Hills Middle School is the middle school located on-site in Serrano. Rolling Hills was a National Blue Ribbon School for the 2001-2002 school year for its academic excellence. Also, in 1996 and again in 2005, Rolling Hills was named a California Distinguished School. Rolling Hills consistently ranks in the top 7% of California middle schools. As is apparent from the numerous awards presented to this school, Rolling Hills is undoubtedly an outstanding school.
Rolling Hills also has a variety of extracurricular activities and sports teams that meet during lunch and after school.
Elementary Schools
Oak Meadow Elementary School, located on Silva Valley Parkway, is located on-site in Serrano. The school offers a Gifted and Talented (GATE) program and many extracurricular activities to give your young ones an early head start on life.
Silva Valley Elementary School is located on Golden Eagle Lane at Silva Valley Parkway. Silva Valley’s special programs include the School Improvement Program (SIP), before and after school enrichment programs for Gifted and Talented students (GATE), a Cross Age Reading Program, and after school enrichment programs. Silva valley is also within walking distance from the Oak Ridge High School and Rolling Hills middle school.
